What Startershive Is
An engineer in Cape Town wants to build a hydroponics controller.
A fabricator wants interesting projects to work on.
A PCB designer has spare capacity.
A software developer is looking for a side project.
None of them know each other exists.
Startershive exists to help them find each other.
Not to hire each other. Not to recruit each other. Not to outsource work.
To build something together.
The Belief
Useful ideas are everywhere.
The people needed to make them real are everywhere too.
What is often missing is the connection between them.
Someone has an idea but lacks a skill.
Someone has a skill but lacks an opportunity.
Someone has time, equipment, knowledge or experience that could move a project forward.
Most of these people never meet.
Startershive exists to make those connections easier.
Where We Are Going
Startershive is being built in layers.
Layer 1 — Discovery (Now)
Find people nearby who can help build what you’re building.
Create a profile. List your skills. Post what you need. Search by location and capability. Start a conversation.
The goal is simple:
Two people who have never met find each other here and start building something together.
If that works, the foundation exists for everything that follows.
Layer 2 — Collaboration (Next)
Once people have found collaborators, they need a place to organise the work.
Projects need tasks, discussions, documents, decisions and accountability.
Startershive will provide lightweight tools that help small teams move from an idea to a finished result.
Layer 3 — Shared Ownership (Future)
Many worthwhile projects are too large for one person but too uncertain for a traditional company.
Startershive’s long-term vision is to help collaborators record contributions, establish agreements and share in the outcomes of what they build together.
That could be revenue, intellectual property, licensing income, equity or other forms of value.
The exact mechanisms will evolve over time.
The principle is simple:
The people who contribute to a project should have a practical way to participate in its success.
What Startershive Is For
Startershive is designed for people who build things.
That includes:
- Engineers
- Makers
- Product developers
- Fabricators
- Technicians
- Software developers
- Students
- Specialists with skills that are useful in real-world projects
Some projects may become businesses.
Some may remain hobbies.
Some may never leave the prototype stage.
That is fine.
The goal is not startups.
The goal is building.
Why Cape Town First
Communities are strongest when people can actually meet.
A PCB designer in the same city is often more useful than one on the other side of the world.
A prototype can be tested, collected, inspected and improved more easily when collaborators are local.
Startershive begins with local discovery because real-world projects are often local by nature.
This Is Build 2026.01
This is the first public build of Startershive.
It is intentionally simple.
Today, the platform does one thing:
Help people find collaborators for technical and maker projects.
Everything else is still ahead.
If two people who would never otherwise have met find each other here and build something useful together, then Startershive is doing exactly what it was created to do.
